Pointsbet x March Madness: Livestream

Or: How I made NBA All-Star Carlos Boozer deeply uncomfortable

Standing out in the crowded marketplace of sports betting and commentary isn’t easy. So PointsBet wanted to do something different for their fans: bring in industry experts from across multiple disciplines to give their ardent fans an inside scoop on what was really going on on the court.

We brought together a former NBA All-Star, a body language expert, a professor of Sports Psychology, and PointsBet’s head oddsmaker to dissect the on-court action, giving viewers a unique perspective on the game as they placed their live bets.

As Madwell’s resident basketball expert* with live direction experience, our production arm at Starfish tapped me to develop a run of show, keep the conversation lively, direct through the in-real-time pivots, and keep viewers engaged and entertained.

It worked. Over half a million sports fans tuned in during the Final Four, with over 17,000 concurrent viewers at the peak.

How’d we do?

  • 580,000 viewers

  • 17,600 peak concurrent viewers

  • $200,000 in earned media

  • 105% increase YoY in PointsBet Final Four wagers

  • 1 deeply uncomfortable Carlos Boozer
